CHrist The King Prep Mural

Museum Trip Update

We raised over $700 from 24 individuals - spanning 50 years in age, multiple states and several faiths including Muslim, Jewish and Christian.

Local artist Christina Lewis is volunteering her time to create a mural at CTK Prep. With no art program yet, I thought this would be a unique opportunity for the school.  Six students are working with brainstorming, sketching and painting a large mural from start to finish.

The general theme we choose is "Multiculturalism". I gave the students "E Pluribus Unum - Out of many, One" to use as a springboard of ideas.

I’ll be documenting the process and sharing it through this site. I invite you to learn more about the Cristo Rey Network schools below. They are revolutionizing inner city education - one job at a time.

"Culture is the widening of the mind and of the spirit"

The Montclair Art Museum has agreed to cover all costs to bring the entire Sophomore and Junior classes to the African American Art: Forces for Change exhibit and 1 hour Art Studio Session.

The raised funds are being used for the Mural project.
